At the international tennis tournament Tennis Europe Junior Tour U12 held in Kaunas, young athletes Pavlo Luchkiv and Lev Maievskyi claimed victory.
Both talented tennis players represent a local club and are pupils of the Ivan Boberskyi Sports School. In singles, Pavlo reached the quarterfinals, losing to future champion Michael Anikin from Estonia, while Lev made it to the semifinals where he was unable to defeat Alp Demirsev Viren from Turkey.
The main success was their triumphant performance in the doubles category. Joining forces, the boys defeated the Estonian duo Michael Anikin / Lenard Hanni in the final to become champions.
“This bright achievement is further confirmation that Ukrainian junior tennis has strong potential,” stated the website of the Drohobych City Council.
It is important to note the development of infrastructure: a new tennis department has been opened at the Ivan Boberskyi Sports School, along with additional courts in the city.
