The Lviv region’s team claimed second place at the Ukrainian Junior and U23 Canoe Sprint Championship.
The competition was held in Uman from May 28 to June 2, gathering 26 teams. The Lviv team, consisting of 40 participants, trailed behind the Poltava region by 8 points but significantly outpaced the bronze medalists.
Top three teams in the overall standings:
1. Poltava Region-1 — 2455 points
2. Lviv Region-1 — 2447 points
3. Vinnytsia Region — 1953 points
The athletes from Lviv region won 76 medals, including 23 gold, 28 silver, and 25 bronze. “These competitions served as qualifiers for the European Junior and U23 Championship to be held in Pitesti, Romania next month,” said Roman Khimiak, Director of the Department of Sports, Youth and Tourism of the Lviv State Administration.
Athletes from Lviv Region selected for the Ukrainian national team: U23 — Vitaliy Bratash, Oleksandr Brezitskyi, Andrii Harasiuk, Volodymyr Savchyn, Sofiia Potsurko; juniors — Elizaveta Vozniuk.
