At the initiative of border guards of the Lviv Detachment, a “Package for a Hero” campaign was held at the soldier’s home in Lviv. The collected packages have already been sent to the servicemen of the border guard commandant’s office of the 7th detachment.
According to Lieutenant Colonel Anatoliy Nahirny, Head of the Social and Humanitarian Support Department of the Lviv Border Guard Detachment, the decision to hold the campaign in this format was made to show that it is really easy to help. “Anyone can do it, anytime and anywhere. There is no such thing as too little help, because we know from our own experience that a strong rear is the key to success. Today, we are holding the “Package for a Hero” campaign in this format for the first time, but our assistance to our combat sworn brothers is regular. The desire and unity of people is our strength,” said Anatoliy Nahirny.
In times of war, especially in combat conditions, there are always things that are quickly consumed or lost by soldiers while performing their missions. All the collected items are essentials: trench candles, hygiene products, delicacies, provisions for cooking in the field, chemical heating pads, medicines, snoods, warm clothes and much more.
Mariupol’s defenders and border guards from the Border Guard Service and detachment management departments.
“They feel our warmth, our support and understand why they are fighting there, for whom they are fighting, so this is a very important action,” says Iryna Gakh, a border guard and wife of the fallen Hero of Ukraine, Roman Gakh.
“Anything that is connected with your family helps, such as a call, a gift, a drawing that a child gave you, and you received it – and it is psychologically easier. It’s very hard there physically, plus you need psychological relief. These goodies, all of this, give you the impression that you are a part of home,” says Pavlo Pikovets, a participant in the campaign. The serviceman was defending Mariupol, where he was wounded and captured.
Border guards have formed more than 100 packages. Each of them has several children’s drawings inside, because nothing warms the soul like children’s dreams of a bright future for Ukraine.
The campaign was supported by the Hearts of Freedom volunteer foundation, Volunteers of Maloviskivshchyna, Breath of Freedom and Olga Teslyak’s headquarters.
