IMPORTANTLY! Due to weather conditions, the opening of the mountain shelter dedicated to the Plastun who died in the war has been POSTPONED. The date and time when the event will take place will be announced later. Plastuns created a shelter on Mount Paraska (Parashka) in memory of Taras Havrylyshyn, who died in the war. The opening was planned for Saturday, November 11, at 1:00 p.m., where media representatives were invited.
This house with free access, next to the tourist route 504 on the southern slope of Parashka, will also provide protection from wind and rain. The shelter is ready.
The house is divided into three parts:
1 – terrace in front of the entrance with a charming view of Borzhava, Trostyan;
2 – room for tourists with three-tier sunbeds designed for 8 people;
3 – service room of foresters: with bunk beds designed for 3 people and a separate entrance.
If placed on the floor, the shelter can accommodate 15-16 people. All structures are designed from edged planed boards, the covering is a metal profile.
According to the coordinator of the project Yulia Gvozdovych, the construction of this house honors the memory of Taras Havrylyshyn, who belonged to the “Chornomortsi” slag hut. He died on November 1, 2022 on the approaches to Kherson.
“Above all, Taras loved traveling, the sea and the mountains. He was also a leading instructor of Plast in astronomy and maritime navigation, a crew member of the Cossack “Seagull”. The greatest dream and the last request of the plastun, which he voiced to his brothers, was the construction of a hut near Mount Paraska,” says Yuliya.
In order to implement this idea, funds were collected among volunteers and activists, charity sales were held. A significant part of the cost was covered by donors from the diaspora, in particular, the USA, as well as Taras’s family. More than 500,000 hryvnias were collected through the joint fund, windows and doors were donated to the plastuns by the private company “Ekran-Viknosvit”, part of the wood was given by “Galsillis”. Not a single hryvnia was used for the implementation of the project either from the local or from the state budget. The project’s organizational team and volunteers who helped with the delivery of materials to the mountain worked for free.
The construction was complicated by the fact that it took place on a mountain slope, where there is no direct access, so the craftsmen had to go to the site on foot every day. Delivery of materials also required considerable effort.
After the opening, the tourist shelter will be transferred to the balance of the National Park “Skolivski Beskids” for further care and exploitation for recreational purposes.
The peculiarity of the shelter is that it is the first in the Lviv region from among the future network of similar ones, which will form the concept of “Dark Sky Park”. Friends of Taras and members of the Lviv Astronomical Society are working on it. As part of the project, for Taras’s birthday (April 20), they also want to buy a mobile telescope and other things for organizing astronomical observations. Periodic astrocamps and plein airs, international events, and the development of astronomy in local schools are planned here. In addition, this is the first tourist shelter in the Lviv region, built by plastuns.

There is no direct access to the shelter. Therefore, if the access will be by a high-terrain vehicle (a well-equipped jeep, for example), then you will have to walk up another 500 m. If the access will be by a car, then from the place where you can get as close as possible, you will have to go up 2 km.
