LMKP «Lvivvodokanal» has announced major repairs to a 900 mm diameter trunk water main in the village of Bartativ. Because of the works, from 05:30 on 11 August to 09:00 on 12 August, the water supply will be cut off to a number of settlements near Lviv. At the same time, water will be supplied to Lviv as normal.
The company recalls that the damage on this section of the pipe occurred last Friday. An emergency team from Lvivvodokanal promptly contained the leak and temporarily sealed the pipe with a repair clamp, which made it possible to avoid cutting off the water supply in Lviv. The utility services are now moving on to a full replacement of the damaged section of the main, which is around 10 metres long.
According to the company, the works are technically complex and require a complete shutdown of the main, removal of the damaged section, installation of a new pipe and subsequent flushing of the pipeline.
For the duration of the repairs, from 05:30 on 11 August to 09:00 on 12 August, the water supply will be cut off in the following settlements:
- Horodok town;
- Bartativ village;
- Volia-Bartativska village;
- Artyshchiv village;
- Mavkovychi village;
- Kernytsia village;
- Lapaivka village;
- Zymna Voda village;
- Konopnytsia village;
- Sukhovolia village;
- Mshana village.
Residents of these settlements are asked to prepare in advance and stock up on the water they need for the duration of the repair works.
As Lvivvodokanal notes, the company is also working on a comprehensive modernisation of this main. Next year, as part of a project supported by the European Investment Bank, a further 4.4 km of the main is to be replaced, which should improve the reliability of the network and reduce the risk of further breakdowns.
The management of LMKP «Lvivvodokanal» apologises to consumers for the temporary inconvenience and asks for their understanding regarding the necessary works.
