On July 19, rescuers from the Sheptytskyi Rescue and Diving Service saved a man who fell into a river due to a ground collapse.
Rescuers noticed the man on the cliffs during a coastal zone inspection. Suddenly, the ground collapsed under his feet, and he fell into the river. They pulled him out of the water onto the shore and provided assistance, which he refused.
\”If the sailors had not been present, everything could have ended tragically, as the swift current would have immediately swept the victim away, and catching up with the victim in such a case is extremely difficult,\” noted the service’s head, Svitlana Verhun.
She also warned about the rising water levels in rivers that are overflowing. In the Sheptytskyi area, only 10 cm remained before reaching the critical point. Verhun urges caution on the banks of the Western Bug, Solokiya, and Rata rivers due to flooding and rapid currents.
