In the Lviv region, a 13-year-old girl, who has been in a coma for the second year fighting for her life, had her arm broken. This was reported by the Lviv journalist, head of the My Dad Protects Ukraine Charitable Society and the Fulfill the Dream charity foundation, Ulyana Flyshko.
Karolinka Romanchuk comes from Chervonohrad district. The child fell seriously ill in the fall of 2020 and fell into a coma. The girl was diagnosed with a rare and deadly disease – meningoencephalitis.
“Carolina and her mother spent a long time in a children’s hospital in Lviv on Pylyp Orlyk Street. “Despite all hopes, the girl did not regain consciousness, but instead she is still unconscious and continues her struggle for life,” said Ulyana Flyshko.
In addition to all the child’s trials, there was also a broken arm, which could have happened in the hospital.
“Recently, Karolinka was once again admitted to the intensive care unit of the Orlyk Children’s Hospital. There, she was connected to a ventilator. But the other day, doctors transferred the child, who is in such a serious condition, to a local hospital in the city of Chervonograd. On the eve of discharge, the child’s mother, Olga Romanchuk, learned that her daughter had a broken arm. How it happened is unknown,” Ulyana Flyshko said.
According to the mother, she noticed the swelling of her daughter’s hand in the hospital and asked the doctors to take an X-ray, which proved that Karolinka had a fracture.
“I cannot say that the doctors of the hospital broke Karolinka’s arm, because according to them, the fracture occurred before she was pinned. But then I don’t understand why the child’s hand began to swell in the hospital, and not earlier… At discharge, we took an X-ray and found that there was a fracture in the hand,” said Olga Romanchuk.
On Wednesday, September 14, the parents took their little girl home, doctors provided them with a ventilator, which the parents still have to master.
It is no longer possible to financially help save Karolinka, in this situation only a miracle can help.
“Parents humbly ask everyone to pray together to God for their Karolinka,” Ulyana Flyshko added.
At the same time, in a comment to the Lviv portal, the head of the anesthesiology and intensive care department of St. Nicholas Hospital of the First Medical Association of Lviv, Yarem Beznizhko, confirmed the information that Karolina Romanchuk was being treated at the hospital on Orlyk, but according to him, the child’s injury could not have happened in medical facilities
“Karolina Romanchuk is a serious palliative patient who suffered from meningoencephalitis. She was admitted to our hospital about a month ago due to respiratory failure. The child’s main disease is progressing and she has stopped breathing. The girl was in the hospital for about a month and received the necessary treatment and care… This fracture, which was recorded on the X-ray, is quite old. This is evidenced by a bone callus, the formation of which requires a longer period. It is hard to imagine how a child’s arm could be broken in a hospital department where there is a large number of staff and no one saw the swelling, redness or deformation of the joint,” said Yarema Beznizhko.
The girl was diagnosed with a rare and deadly disease – primary purulent meningitis meningoencephalitis (brain disease). As you know, at first 11-year-old Karolinka, who returned from school one day, began to feel nauseous. On the third day, the girl developed a temperature. The parents immediately turned to the doctor and he prescribed treatment, but soon the child fell into a coma. None of the treatments worked and the child still hasn’t woken up.
