Today, at the age of 75, the renowned resident of Drohobych, Yosif Mihaylovych Karpin, passed away. He was a long-time head of the Jewish community in Drohobych, a teacher, and a choreographer.
Yosif Karpin led the modern dance ensemble ‘Free Dance’ at Drohobych Lyceum No. 2 for many years, educating a whole generation of talented students. Under his leadership, the Jewish community restored the Great Synagogue, built in 1865. ‘May the kind, bright memory of the deceased forever remain in the memory of relatives, colleagues, and all who knew him,’ expressed city representatives in their condolences.
The city leadership, headed by Drohobych Mayor Taras Kuchma, and other officials express their sincere condolences to the family of Yosif Karpin. May the soul of the deceased find eternal peace, and may the Lord receive him unto Himself. Eternal memory!
