Stories from the front: a combat medic of the 80th ODSH brigade tells about love in war

Natalia is a combat medic of the assault battalion of the 80th brigade. One day amidst blood, bullets and dirt, a female soldier met her love in the war.

The woman has been serving in the Ukrainian army for 13 years. She used to be a sanitary doctor, but now she saves the lives of the soldiers of the DSHV, who are trying to be taken away by the Russian invaders.

A combat medic pulls out wounded comrades from the front under bullets and shelling. Constantly goes to combat positions when evacuation is required. Heavy battles are not an obstacle. The most important thing for her is to take the victims out of the line of fire. He stops halfway, bandages his wounds, and then goes to the evacuation point as fast as he can.

“We went to the observation point, sat there and talked a lot. The shelling was very strong. We became friends. The decision to get married came spontaneously. Dmytro says to me: “Let’s get married, maybe tomorrow won’t come.” Here you live one day and appreciate life. Time passes differently in war, we may not even remember what month it is. It is very difficult, but we can do it. Now my husband and I are going to an evacuation. He is a sniper, but later he will go to study medicine. My husband will help me get some rest,” Natalia said.

And Natalia is the mother of two children. At the beginning of the full-scale war, she evacuated them abroad, and she continued her service in the army. Until now, the woman tells the children that she is studying.

One day, a projectile flew into a combat medic right into the dugout. The woman fainted, but soon regained consciousness and ran to help.

“We take out the wounded not by medevac, but by our armored personnel carrier. Somehow it was covered with artillery, there were a lot of wounded, but we took everyone out. In the middle of the armored car there were 15 seriously wounded. Terrible. But everything is experienced and forgotten if there is an opportunity to sleep normally. I know that I must go to the wounded, because I will not leave them. I will sit here for a month, knowing that everything will be fine with them. I love my combat company very much,” recalls the Ukrainian defender.
