The Lviv Defense Cluster received more than 500 tons of steel sheets from the Metinvest Group free of charge, and from this armor steel Metinvest-SMC specialists produced a significant part of 80,000 body armor.
The partnership of Metinvest-SMC and the Lviv Defense Cluster (LOK) is a vivid example of the interaction of various structures and companies for the common goal of victory in the confrontation with the Russian aggressor. Together, they have already managed to secure 80,000 servicemen and specialists working in the combat zone.
“Metinvest-SMC knows steel very well. Therefore, our role in confronting the enemies was quite obvious to us: within the framework of Rinat Akhmetov’s Steel Front military initiative, we undertook to provide metal. At first – for defense structures and fortifications, and later they began to supply armor steel to manufacturers of defensive ammunition. So far, the Lviv Defense Cluster has received more than 500 tons of steel sheets from Metinvest-SMC free of charge. This material is already protecting our military on the front lines. This is our contribution to the victory of Ukraine”, – noted the general director of Metinvest-SMC Ihor Tonev.

LOK was able to organize production from scratch during the war. The cluster brings together specialists from defense enterprises, volunteers and production facilities from all over the country to provide defenders with high-quality body armor. The organization has its own laboratory for testing finished products, so each bulletproof vest is thoroughly tested.
“We managed to establish the production of high-quality bulletproof vests, which we send to the front. Thanks to reliable partners, including Metinvest-SMC, we produced 80,000 of them. Our goal is to reach 100,000 bulletproof vests in the near future. All ammunition meets state standards and military requirements. The materials are tested and shot. I note that we also develop bulletproof vests for medics, and within the framework of assistance to juvenile services, we have developed and manufacture protective kits for the evacuation of children. We have a powerful team of specialists, so with the support of big business as well, we will be able to do more for Ukraine and Ukrainians,” said the Chairman of the Board of the Lviv Defense Cluster Maksym Plekhov.
