Customs officers stopped a resident of Rava-Ruska who attempted to export 67,000 USD abroad.
On June 17, around 23:00, a VOLKSWAGEN minivan arrived at the ‘Rava-Ruska – Hrebenne’ checkpoint, heading for exit from Ukraine. The driver chose the ‘green corridor’ lane, designated for the transport of goods not subject to mandatory declaration and taxation.
During the vehicle inspection, customs officers discovered 67,300 USD with one of the passengers, a resident of Rava-Ruska. The citizen did not declare the currency funds due to the absence of documents verifying the origin of the cash.
Interestingly, the offender celebrated his 60th birthday the day before, but was unable to make himself a ‘gift for all the money’ – an administrative protocol was drawn up under part 1 of Article 471 of the Customs Code of Ukraine. Cash not exceeding the legal limit of 10,000 euros was allowed through the Ukrainian customs border, while 55,800 USD was temporarily seized pending lawful resolution of the case.
