Lviv forecasts high fire danger on June 16 with 4th hazard level, residents urged to stay cautious

The Lviv Regional Hydrometeorological Center has issued a warning about an elevated fire risk expected on Monday, June 16. According to meteorologists, the fire danger level in Lviv will reach class 4, which signifies a high threat of fires.

In response, local authorities are urging residents to strictly follow fire safety guidelines. The city council emphasizes that burning dry vegetation is illegal and carries serious penalties.

Under Ukrainian law:

  • Unauthorized burning of dry plants may result in fines from 3,060 to 6,120 UAH for individuals;

  • Officials may face penalties ranging from 15,300 to 21,420 UAH;

  • If the offense occurs in protected natural areas, the fine increases to between 6,120 and 12,240 UAH;

  • During wartime, such actions may be treated as sabotage and lead to criminal prosecution.

Lviv residents are also reminded to report any sightings of dry grass fires or arsonists by calling emergency numbers “101” or “102”.
