Beginning September 1, 2025, the Lviv region will shift to a new system of air raid alerts. Instead of a regional-wide alarm, sirens will now sound only in specific districts facing a direct threat. The update was announced by Maksym Kozytskyi, Head of the Lviv Regional Military Administration, based on a decision by the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.
According to the new protocol, air raid alerts will be triggered in areas where hostile unmanned aerial vehicles or other immediate threats are detected near administrative boundaries.
Key Points:
- In the event of a threat from a “Kinzhal” aeroballistic missile, the air raid alert will be announced simultaneously across all of Ukraine.
- Lviv region is technically equipped for localized alerts — the system can activate all sirens or target specific ones.
- Occasional technical malfunctions are possible, and residents are asked to remain understanding.
- For malfunctioning local sirens, residents should contact their municipal or village authorities.
