Hydrological Situation on Rivers of Lviv Region: Water Level Rise

Overview of the hydrological situation on the rivers of Lviv region as of 8:00 AM on June 4, 2025.

During the past day, according to the hydrometeorological network in Lviv region, 5 – 15 mm and in some places 23 – 24 mm of precipitation was recorded (HP Dniester River – village Sambir, Bystrytsia River – village Ozymyna, Poltva River – village Busk). As a result of the rainfall, a rise in water levels was observed on the region’s rivers: in the Dniester basin rivers by 3 – 12 cm, in some places 32 – 34 cm (HP Bystrytsia River – village Ozymyna, Dniester River – city Sambir, Tysmenytsia River – city Drohobych), in the lowland rivers of the Sian and Western Bug basins by 1 – 10 cm. The water temperature in the mountainous tributaries of the Dniester was 6.0 – 13.0°, and in the rest of the region’s rivers – 14.0 – 18.0°.

Consultation on the change in the hydrological situation on the rivers of Lviv region: The following day, most rivers in the Dniester basin are expected to see a water level decline, while in the lower reaches of the Strviazh rivers and on the Dniester (section Rozdil – Zhuravno) a wave reaching from upstream with a water level rise of 0.2 – 0.4 m above current levels will be observed. In the lowland rivers of the Sian, Western Bug basins, and in the upper reaches of the Styr, minor water level fluctuations with a predominance of rising levels will be observed.
