Hydrological Situation on Rivers in Lviv Region: Rising Water Levels

As of 08:00 on May 25, 2025, rising water levels are being observed on the rivers in the Lviv region.

According to the hydrometeorological network data, between 1 and 8 mm of precipitation fell over the Lviv region within a day. In the Dniester basin rivers, a rainy flood is forming with water levels rising by 10 – 48 cm, in some places up to 68 – 92 cm. The maximum water levels have passed on the Dniester River in the city of Sambir and the Bystrica River in the village of Ozimina.

A decline in water levels by 5 – 12 cm was noted on some mountain tributaries of the Dniester. On the lowland rivers in the basins of Sian, Western Bug, and the upper reaches of Styr, water levels predominantly rose by 1 – 3 cm. The water temperature on the mountain tributaries of the Dniester ranged from 3.2 – 7.8°, while on other rivers in the region it was 8.0 – 14.0°.

The following day, a decline in water levels is expected on the mountain tributaries of the Dniester. Only in the lower reaches of the Strv’yazh, Stryi, and the Dniester between Rozdil and Zhuravno, flood wave progression will be observed with water level rises of 0.3 – 0.7 m. On the rivers of the Sian, Western Bug basins, and in the upper reaches of the Styr, slight water level fluctuations with a tendency of rise will be noted.
