Hydrological Situation on Rivers of Lviv Region: Overview and Forecasts

The hydrometeorological situation on the rivers of the Lviv region has changed due to weather conditions.

In the past day, according to the hydrometeorological network, up to 1 mm of precipitation fell in some places in the Lviv region. On most rivers in the region, water level fluctuations were observed within 1 – 7 cm, locally up to 18 cm (HP Striy River – Yasenitsa village) with a tendency to recede. Due to ice phenomena in some river sections, there were slight increases in water levels by 6 – 22 cm per day. On most rivers of the Lviv region, ice cover persisted, with ice phenomena in the form of frazil reported in some places.

In the next day, due to gradual thawing and precipitation, a slight increase in water levels and a slight weakening of ice phenomena will be observed on the mountainous tributaries of the Dniester. On the rest of the rivers in the region, water levels will predominantly decrease, and ice phenomena will persist.

As of 08:00 on 03 February, in the mountains of the Lviv region, snow cover height on Mount Turka and Mount Slavsk was 5 – 12 cm. An avalanche danger warning No. Gl-8 from 02.02.2026 is in effect.
