Olesko Castle to be Included in the Register of Ukrainian Heritage Monuments

Due to the intervention of the prosecutor’s office, Olesko Castle and six other cultural heritage sites will be included in the State Register of Immovable Monuments of Ukraine.

The Zolochiv District Prosecutor’s Office ensured the implementation of a decision obliging the local self-government body to prepare accounting documentation for each cultural heritage site in the town of Olesko. It is also required to submit proposals for the inclusion of these sites in the State Register of Immovable Monuments of Ukraine.

This concerns seven sites in the town of Olesko of the Busk Territorial Community, including the famous Danilovich Castle ‘Olesko Castle’, the Holy Trinity and St. Joseph’s Churches, the Capuchin Cells, and Monastery. These sites are part of the Golden Horseshoe of Lviv region, a popular tourist route.

It was established that the local self-government body had failed to prepare the accounting documentation for these cultural heritage monuments, which could have led to their illegal alienation. Responding to the violations, the prosecutor’s office filed a lawsuit, which was fully satisfied.

As of today, the court’s decision has been fully executed, the appropriate accounting documentation has been prepared and sent for approval to the Ministry of Culture and Strategic Communications of Ukraine.
