Weaving nets, sorting humanities, organizing actions: what do the youth of Lviv communities do during the war

Initiative youth circles in the communities of Lviv region do not stay away from the needs of Ukrainian soldiers and internally displaced persons. Young people join volunteer centers operating in communities and initiate cultural events.

The youth of the Stryi region

In the first days of the full-scale war, a volunteer front started working at the Stryi Youth Center. Specialists of the youth center Lyuba Kostiv and Oleh Koverdan started working at the Stryi Center for Registration of Internally Displaced Persons. Later, young people also joined in. In addition, young men and women were on duty daily at the Stryj People’s House, which is now a volunteer humanitarian aid headquarters.

“Many of our young people in Stryi are actively volunteering in various public organizations and headquarters. Help sort food, clothing and medicine. Weave camouflage nets. And one of our participants in the center even sewed Ukrainian battle flags, ”says Oleh Koverdan, head of the national-patriotic sector of the Stryi Youth Center.

The center also has a music club, which has recorded several patriotic songs since the beginning of the war to raise the morale of our defending soldiers. For migrants who temporarily live in the community, young people recently organized an apartment house “Kryivka”.

Young people also joined the action “Close the sky – be people!”, And on Taras Shevchenko’s birthday, volunteers postponed their work for a few minutes to recite poems with prophetic words of Shevchenko. We do not stop there and will move forward to our victory

Youth of Dobrosyn-Mager community

The Youth Council at the Dobrosyn-Mageriv Village Council has established a process of weaving camouflage nets. During the war, about 400 nets were sent to the front.

“Another activity of the young community is to provide humanitarian support, in particular, sending mats, sleeping bags, clothes, medicines, homemade sweets, food, letters of support and more for our military,” said Orest Borys, head of the Dobrosyn-Mageriv Youth Council.

The youth also managed to get humanitarian aid for the military from Polish friends.

“It is important for us to help our military, to make a direct contribution to our victory. We understand that this is what we can and should do at the moment. We are sincerely grateful to everyone who responds to the request and helps, ”says Orest Borys.

Youth of Zolochiv region

In Zolochiv, the active youth of the Mykola Charnetsky Youth Leadership Center and the Youth Community decided that it was best to accumulate efforts together, so they joined the Zolochiv Caritas Charitable Foundation. Here, volunteers sort clothes and food that come from different parts of Ukraine and from abroad, and sort things that are brought for the military from abroad.

“Many women with children live in our community. These are families from Kharkiv, Irpen, Kyiv and other hot spots. For children to go through all these events, moving is a great stress, so we decided to help them adapt a bit through communication, so we play different games with them, “- said the Youth Leadership Center in Zolochev.

Young people also help to unload and load humanitarian aid – food, medicine, military supplies and essentials. Already sent aid to Kyiv, Zaporizhia, Kharkiv, Dnipro, as well as to the children’s fund of orphans in Kharkiv. Assistance is sent to hospitals and the military.

The youth of Drohobych

In the first days of the war, the youth of Drohobych decided to make sure that our soldiers were full – on the basis of the youth space they started the production of energy bars. They are very valuable for the military, because they are stored for a long time and are well saturated.

When the bases for making bars in the city increased, the youth space was equipped as a shelter for internally displaced persons. There are beds for migrants, a total of up to 30 people can temporarily live. There are priority amenities: hot water, shower.

Young people did not stay away from such an important initiative as collecting medicines. One of the rooms was used to store medicine for the military, which was sent to them if necessary.

We told here how the Lviv regional youth worked in the first month of the war.
