“Side by side”: Lviv Oblast will help residents of the village of Tavriyske in Kherson Oblast to rebuild damaged houses

In total, 104 objects need repair in the village of Tavriyskoe.

Lviv Oblast is one of 15 regions of Ukraine that joins the “Side by Side” project, which aims to help rebuild the communities of Kherson Oblast, which were the most affected by Russian aggression.

Our region takes under its patronage the restoration of private homes and social infrastructure facilities in the village of Bila Krynytsia, the villages of Nova Zorya and Tavriyske. The last two are located in Bilozersk community in Kherson region.

The head of Tavriyske and Nova Zorya villages, Lyubov Shevchenko, said that as of now, few local people live in these settlements, because their houses have been completely destroyed or damaged so that it is impossible to live there.

“If we talk about Tavriysk, then approximately 210 people still live here. Approximately 150 objects were destroyed due to Russian aggression. Premises will be restored on three of our streets – Shkilna, Stepova and Stavkova. Not only private homes need repair, but also our local school, the People’s House, a kindergarten, and a paramedic-midwifery center. There are only 30 residents left in Nova Zora, and these are mostly elderly people. 51 objects here are damaged,” Lyubov Vasylivna said.

Specialists of the capital construction department of Lviv regional government were already on site and studied the situation. Repair teams have already been formed and have brought repair materials to the facilities.

“Our region has started the restoration of private settlements in this settlement and the village of Nova Zorya of the Belozersk community, within the framework of the national project “Side by Side”. Our crews have delivered repair materials and are starting to replace damaged windows, doors and roofs in private homes. After that, capital construction will be undertaken. Also within the framework of the “Side by Side” initiative, Lviv region will rebuild the village of Bila Krynytsia in the Kherson region. 10 million hryvnias have already been allocated for the implementation of works in these three settlements,” said the head of the Lviv OVA, Maksym Kozytskyi.

One of the houses that will be renovated within the framework of the program belongs to the family of 46-year-old Olena from the village of Tavriyske.

“Our family lives in a one-story house that has already been hit twice. As a result, all the windows and doors are knocked out and, of course, the roof needs to be replaced. We stayed here to live, overwintered, there was no electricity, no gas, volunteers helped us with small pots. Yesterday we had a team of repairmen from Lviv, they measured the windows. We hope that very soon we will completely rebuild our house,” Olena said.

In total, within the framework of the “Side by Side” project, Lviv Oblast plans to restore 300 objects. Sources of funding: funds from regional communities, as well as funds from the state budget of Ukraine (after the adoption of the State Program).
