Fire in Lviv: 10 people rescued, 5 evacuated

A fire occurred in a nine-story residential building in Lviv, during which rescuers saved 10 people.

On July 8 at 5:50 PM, the Rescue Service ‘101’ received a report of a fire on Chervona Kalyna Avenue. The fire broke out on the balcony of an apartment on the third floor. By the time the rescuers arrived, flames were bursting from the balcony windows.

Due to the heavy smoke, the firefighters worked in special respiratory and vision protection devices. The stairwell of the building quickly filled with toxic smoke, preventing some residents from being able to leave their homes on their own. **With the help of rescue devices, the emergency workers saved 10 people**, and another 5 were brought out into the fresh air.

At 6:12 PM, the firefighters localized the fire and by 6:17 PM, they extinguished it. The fire elimination involved 20 rescuers and 5 units of special equipment.
