Fire in Yavoriv District: Man Sustained Burns

A fire in dry grass occurred in the Yavoriv district, resulting in a man being injured.

On August 16 at 15:01, rescuers received a report of a fire in the village of Bortyatyn, where dry grass was burning. Rescuers from the town of Sudova Vyshnya were dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, a fire of dry grass was discovered in separate areas covering an area of 1000 sq.m.

As a result of the fire, a man born in 1955 sustained burns of the body and hands of 2nd-3rd degree while trying to extinguish the fire on his own. He was hospitalized in moderate condition at St. Luke’s Hospital in Lviv.

By 15:33, the fire was localized, and by 15:48 it was extinguished. 3 rescuers and 1 specialized vehicle were involved in extinguishing the fire.

“Burning dry vegetation is not only dangerous but also illegal. Flames in open areas can quickly spread to forests, homes, and farms.”
