In order to prevent emergency situations involving children, employees of the Juvenile Prevention Department of the Lviv Oblast Police visit educational institutions and remind preschoolers and students of the algorithms for actions in crisis or dangerous situations.
In particular, police officers explain to children the rules of behavior when detecting explosive objects. These can be backpacks, bags, rolls left unattended near garbage cans or in places of mass gathering of people, as well as children’s toys, items with mobile phones attached to them, radio stations, batteries, elements of military purpose (cartridges, ammunition). Children should be aware that if familiar things are in unusual places – for example, a toy at a bus stop – it should not be touched.
When potentially dangerous objects are detected, do not touch them with your hands or move them. Under no circumstances should you throw found cartridges or other explosive objects into the fire – as a result, you can get life-threatening injuries.
Instead, you should immediately notify adults (parents, teachers, passers-by) of the find, who should immediately contact the police on the emergency line 102. After waiting for the arrival of the explosives specialists of the Lviv Oblast police, you should indicate the location of the find and the time of its discovery.
Also, during such classes, law enforcement officers remind children of traffic rules and rules of safe behavior at home and at school, as well as raise children’s awareness of safety in the digital environment.
Simple actions save lives!
