Bad Weather in Lviv Region: Call for Caution on Roads

Adverse weather conditions persist in the Lviv region due to snowfall.

Due to the snowfall and reduced visibility for drivers of vehicles, there is an increased risk of getting into traffic accidents or other unforeseen situations. Therefore, we urge you to refrain from unnecessary trips, and if you do drive, to be extremely attentive and carefully follow the requirements of traffic regulations.

Heavy snowfall has significantly complicated vehicle movement on roads. Since the weather forecast for the next few days remains unfavorable, one should not expect an improvement in the situation.

Public services are not everywhere able to promptly clear the roadway – in such conditions, the risks for drivers and pedestrians to get into traffic accidents increase.

Drivers! Carefully select and do not exceed a safe speed, maneuver carefully, especially on slippery roads. Be sure to turn on your headlights to better mark yourself on the roadway and use turn signals when changing direction. When approaching pedestrian crossings or unregulated intersections, carefully monitor the situation and calculate the braking distance. Also, do not forget about seat belts. Park your vehicles in a way that does not interfere with snow removal!

Pedestrians! Cross the road only at designated places. Before stepping onto the roadway, make sure no vehicle is approaching you and that the driver can stop the vehicle without resorting to emergency braking. If you see that the driver doesn’t have such an opportunity, it’s better to wait an extra minute but not take the risk.

In case of emergency situations, call the emergency line 102 – law enforcement officers will provide you with all the necessary assistance within their competence.
