Frenchman Karim Lunisi traveled more than 4,000 km from France to Ukraine to raise funds for the purchase of generators and first-aid kits for Ukrainians. Today he is in Lviv and had the opportunity to meet with the mayor of the city. Andriy Sadovy thanked the guest for his mission and visit to Ukraine at such a difficult time.

French doctor Karim Lounis is 70 years old. In June, he left France for Ukraine via Switzerland, Germany, Austria, the Czech Republic and Poland. Now he is in Lviv, and then he is on his way to Kyiv. The planned route is about 4,500 km.

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Karim tried to join the Armed Forces as a volunteer, but due to his age and insufficient level of knowledge of the English language, he was not accepted. So he decided to help with charity. The main goal of his cycling trip is to raise funds for the purchase of generators and medical kits for the military.

“I came here on behalf of all people who want peace, and with my visit I want to remind the whole world that the war in Ukraine continues. It is important to use your own example to inspire people to help your country.

I was in Lviv for the first time last spring, when the great war had just begun. I believe that the next time I come to your beautiful city again, I will be able to bring aid, for which I am currently collecting funds,” says Karim Lunisi.

In Lviv, the French philanthropist was met by the mayor Andriy Sadovy and presented the man with a coin of King Danylo.

“I am very proud of the Europeans who have the courage to come to our country now. Only brave people do such things. Thank you very much for your visit and initiative to help us.

30 thousand Lviv residents are now at war. We really want them to return to their hometown as soon as possible. We must now work hard to expel the enemy, de-occupy all Ukrainian lands, and restore justice. We must win this war, and the world must be with us on this path,” said the mayor of Lviv.
