In the Lviv district, an angler tragically lost his life due to thin ice.
Today, January 5, at 13:09, rescuers received a report that in the village of Hamaliyivka, a person fell through the ice while fishing. It was found that the man, being on the ice, ended up in the water and called for help. His cries were heard by local residents, who immediately called the emergency services.
Upon the rescuers’ arrival, the man was no longer visible on the water’s surface. At a distance of about 150 meters from the shore, rescuers discovered the body of the deceased. With the help of a boat and special equipment, he was brought to shore and handed over to ambulance and police personnel. The deceased was identified as a local resident born in 1974.
Rescuers once again urge citizens not to venture onto thin ice and to remember that winter fishing under unstable weather conditions poses a deadly risk.
