A new four-legged worker, an immigrant from Kharkiv, has appeared in the Lviv youth space Pixlab: the story of Barney’s rescue

Barney, a dog rescued from Kharkiv, “works” in the Lviv youth space Pixlab. He was found and sheltered by the operational director of the network of youth spaces WORKS! Juliana Savruk. She told the story of a four-legged immigrant who found his new home in Lviv.

Juliana saw Barney in one of the channels in the Telegram, which publishes information about all the dogs that were left without owners due to Russia’s war against Ukraine. The girl saw a small dog in the photo (although it turned out later that it was a large breed of dog – the Tibetan Mastiff) and decided to take it from Kharkov. Since Julian had been volunteering since the first days of the full-scale invasion of the enemy, she organized a car with humanitarian aid to Kharkiv and asked the driver to bring Barney from there.

When the dog arrived, the girl saw in his collar the contacts of his previous owner.

“I called this woman. She moved to France and could not take him with her. I said that I took it to myself, asked to tell about it, about the character and habits. The woman was very moved and cried that we saved her pet, that she has a new family, “Juliana recalls.

Juliana’s husband was initially against the dog, because now Barney is 1.4 years old and weighs 35 kilograms, and can grow up to 60. The girl thought that she would have to give the dog to someone else who has a private house, a large area, but then she changed her mind, because from the first days she was very attached to Barney, and he was very attached to her.

“I know many people think that the war is over and we all don’t care. But that’s how we differ from the Russian occupiers in that we take care of pets. Every rescued dog or cat is very happy when someone loves them. I sincerely recommend taking them to yourself, “says the girl.
