On February 13, at 4:40 p.m., the Rescue Service “101” received a report that in the city of Lviv on the street Starytskogo, 6, on the fourth floor of a four-story residential building, the owner of the apartment discovered spilled mercury while cleaning the stairwell.
The department of radiation, chemical and biological protection of the emergency and rescue unit of the special emergency and rescue unit of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in the Lviv region went to the scene of the call.
Rescuers collected mercury mechanically and carried out demercurization work.
The collected mercury in the amount of 2,800 grams was handed over to the Department of Emergency Situations and Civil Protection for storage and further disposal.
