New Trams from Switzerland Begin Operation in Lviv

On April 3, two more trams gifted by Swiss city Bern started operation on Lviv routes. They are currently running in test mode with passengers on route No. 1, which connects the railway station and Pohulianka. According to LKP ‘Lvivelectrotrans’, there are now four Bern trams operating on this route.

In total, Lviv has received 10 out of the planned 11 trams from Bern. The final carriage is expected in mid-April. For operation in Lviv, the carriages do not require conversion thanks to the identical track width in both cities. They are equipped with automatic fare payment systems, audio and digital passenger information, accessibility ramps, and additional lights. Ukrainian certification and technical testing are also conducted, along with driver training.
