Applications for participation in the “Give the City a Tree” campaign 2024 are now being accepted in Lviv. Those wishing to plant a sapling can choose a location and type of tree from the list, fill out an application, and after payment, join the planting.
This traditional campaign was previously called “I want to plant a tree”. It has been held in the city for four years in a row. Online applications are accepted until 17 March 2024.
The Department of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Lviv City Council, together with district administrations and Lviv gardeners, has developed a list of free holes in the streets, squares and parks of the community where trees and shrubs can be planted.
This time, residents are offered more than 1500 holes for planting trees and shrubs: 1478 on the streets and 100 in parks. The largest number of free holes is in the Frankivsk district. There is a need for 454 trees here.
So those interested can choose the type of tree or shrub they want to buy from the list, as well as the place where they plan to plant the plant.
“The seedling is purchased by a philanthropist who applies for a special form, and the city helps to bring it, plant it, install supports and provide proper care. It is important to note that we offer to plant only high-quality formed seedlings from nurseries. The cost of such a tree is from UAH 3,500 to 7,000, depending on the species and age,” said the Department of Ecology and Natural Resources of Lviv City Council.

Fill out the online form. The application must specify the desired location and type of tree. After filling out the application, the tree and location will be reserved.
After the application is processed (within two weeks), you will be contacted and informed about the availability of seedlings and their cost. You will receive an invoice for payment to the nursery of your choice.
Within a week, you have to pay for the seedling and send a payment confirmation.
You will be informed about the day and time of planting your tree additionally. The planting will be carried out together with you by specialists in the care of landscaping of the relevant district or park under the supervision of a gardener. Everything you need for planting will be on site.
You will write an application to the Department of Ecology (a sample will be provided by the gardener) to ensure proper maintenance and care of the planted trees/shrubs.
Online applications for booking and planting trees and shrubs are accepted until 17 March 2024.
Last year, 369 trees and shrubs were planted in the Lviv community under the sponsorship of residents for a total amount of over UAH 1.3 million.
