The Lviv City Council has launched the second training course as part of the New Horizons: Military in Business project. 22 participants, including 12 veterans and ten wives of defenders, will learn the tools necessary to start and develop their own business in 10 days.
16 graduates of the first year of the project have successfully completed their studies and have already attracted grants for their own businesses.
According to the organizers, the second year of the New Horizons: Military in Business project received twice as many applications as the first. The group was formed just two days after the start of registration.
“Our course is completely practical. From the first day, we start writing a business plan to submit a grant application to eRobota. We will teach you how to write a text-based grant application based on the International Labor Organization’s model. Our trainer is a certified specialist of this organization. There will also be training on how to participate in the competition for a veteran’s voucher – up to UAH 300 thousand from the Lviv City Council,” says Yulia Voytekhova, project coordinator.
The participants have ideas to develop their own businesses in agribusiness, farming, and the service sector: opening a coffee shop, car repair shop, or water treatment plant.
During the training, the project participants will learn about all the grant opportunities available to veterans or business start-ups, form a marketing strategy for their own business, and learn how to sell their goods and services at a high cost and with high quality.
“Our task is not only to teach, but also to provide individualized advice and support to our participants both during and after the training. We still actively advise the first-year participants who studied in October-November. They know that the Entrepreneurship Support Center is always open to them. Therefore, our project has both a financial and emotional and psychological impact on the participants, because they are in a circle of like-minded people,” the project coordinator added.
At the Entrepreneurship Support Center, participants will also play a new business game for veterans. With its help, they will learn about different forms of ownership. And in the end, they will visit one of the successful Lviv businesses.
As a reminder, the first 16 participants of the New Horizons: Military in Business project, veterans and family members of military personnel, shared their stories of starting and developing their own businesses at the Lviv City Council’s Entrepreneurship Support Center. As a result of the training, eleven participants received grants for business development and necessary equipment.
