All three Ballon d’Or trophies won by Ukrainians arrive in Lviv for the first time: open for viewing until June 1

On May 29, Lviv made history by becoming the first city to host all three Ballon d’Or trophies awarded to Ukrainian football legends. The iconic awards, earned by Oleg Blokhin (1975), Ihor Belanov (1986), and Andriy Shevchenko (2004), are now on display at Rynok Square and will remain there until June 1. Afterward, the tour will continue across other Ukrainian cities.

🔹 Background of the initiative
The project began in December 2024, marking the 20th anniversary of Shevchenko’s Ballon d’Or win. Initially, only his trophy was part of the tour, but the concept evolved into a historic exhibition featuring all three awards.

“This is the first time these trophies come together to inspire and motivate our youth. If we achieved the Ballon d’Or once, we can do it again—with discipline, belief, and hard work,” said Andriy Shevchenko.

🔹 Ukrainian football legends in Lviv
Joining the event in Lviv were all three Ballon d’Or winners themselves. The players also signed the Honorary Guest Book in the mayor’s office. Mayor Andriy Sadovyi highlighted how their achievements continue to inspire both civilians and soldiers fighting for Ukraine today.

🔹 Charity initiative and merchandise space
A football-themed pop-up store was set up near the exhibit offering exclusive merchandise, including golden mini-footballs with facsimiles of the three players. All profits will support the development of youth football in Ukraine, particularly through the “School Ball” tournament organized by the Ukrainian Football Association.

🔹 Organizers
The tour is a part of ROZETKA’s 20th-anniversary celebration. According to ROZETKA’s offline retail director Olena Zabolotna, the goal is to not only celebrate past victories but also invest in the future of Ukrainian football.
