
This year’s spring in the Lviv region was characterized by warm weather and insufficient precipitation.
The average daily temperature during spring ranged from 6.2 to 9°C, which is 0.1 – 0.5°C above the norm, except in Stryi, where it was 0.2°C lower.
The lowest temperatures were recorded in March when, on the night of the 18th, temperatures dropped to -6 to -13°C. Frosts were also observed in April and May, particularly in the mountains where it reached -11°C. In Lviv, long-standing temperature minima were exceeded four times.
Maximum temperatures peaked in April, with 25 – 28°C recorded on the 17th and 22nd. In Lviv, long-standing temperature maxima were exceeded nine times.
Spring precipitation measured at 50 – 94 mm, accounting for 28 – 80% of the norm, with only three stations recording 105 – 121% of the norm. The number of days with precipitation was 63 across the region and 50 in Lviv.
From 2000-2024, the warmest April was noted in 2018 and 2024, while the warmest May was in 2003 and 2018. The coldest April was in 2003, 2021, and 2022, while the coldest May was in 2004, 2020, and 2021. The driest April was in 2020, and the driest May was from 2022 to 2024.
