Since the beginning of the heating season in Ukraine, fires have claimed the lives of 848 people, including 23 children.
During this period, 10,578 fires occurred in residential buildings. Behind these dry numbers are destroyed homes, charred walls, black smoke, and empty windows. A total of 783 people were injured, including 93 children. Each of these stories is a family’s pain, fear in children’s eyes, and anxiety that will remain forever.
The main causes of fires sound ordinary, but their consequences are tragic:
- over 3,500 fires occurred due to violations of fire safety regulations during the installation and operation of electrical installations;
- over 3,000 due to violations of fire safety regulations during the installation and operation of stoves;
- over 2,500 due to careless handling of fire.
Behind each of these numbers is a life. Therefore, it is so important to remember: safety is not a formality, but a daily responsibility: do not overload electrical networks, monitor the stove, be careful with open flames and heaters, check the heating system.
