Defenders and their relatives who came to Lviv are provided with temporary free accommodation: how to take advantage

The regulation on provision of temporary free accommodation for defenders of Ukraine and their family members who came to the Lviv community was adopted today, July 21, at the executive committee. We explain who and how can use such help.

“Such a program has been operating in our company before, since 2018. We felt that people need such help, and most of all – families who come to care for the wounded. We are ready to help and are now continuing this program with changes and new challenges in mind.

Families of soldiers who come to care for the wounded in the hospital do not always know how and where to settle down. Therefore, according to agreements with hostels located nearby, we can provide them with free accommodation for the time needed to care for the military. We also provide accommodation when the family of a military person arrives in Lviv to participate in the burial of their relatives, or for the purpose of a medical examination after being referred to our medical facilities, or for the purpose of participating in celebrations or visiting the Lychakiv cemetery.

The term of settlement depends on the event. If participation in celebrations is one day, if a medical examination is two days, if care for patients who are in hospitals, then it depends on the need, and a person can stay as long as necessary, having confirmation from doctors,” explains Svitlana Tkachuk, head of the Lviv Center for the provision of services to combatants.

In particular, it is about free temporary accommodation of defenders and their relatives, relatives of fallen (deceased) defenders of Ukraine who came to the Lviv community in order to:

– undergo a medical examination under the direction of a medical institution (accommodation is provided for up to 2 days; however, if further examination is necessary, the stay can be extended if there is a document confirming the need);

– to provide care for the wounded who is undergoing inpatient treatment in a medical institution (housing for the period necessary to provide such care, confirmed by a document of the medical institution);

– to visit the graves of fallen (deceased) defenders at the Lychakiv cemetery (accommodation for 1 day);

– take part in celebrations and other events that take place in the Lviv community (accommodation for 1 day);

– organize participation in the burial of a deceased (deceased) defender (stay up to 3 days).

In exceptional cases, settlement is possible for people who are not family members of the defenders, but who came to take care of the wounded during his stay in hospital treatment, or to take part in the burial of the defender.

Temporary free accommodation is provided by the Lviv Center for the provision of services to participants in hostilities (purchases this service in hotels and hostels). For settlement, you need to contact the Center and submit an application.

“You need to contact our Center on St. Pekarska, 41, write an application and submit the necessary documents. According to each need, there is a separate list of documents, it is as short as possible. Therefore, I advise you to call beforehand and clarify whether to visit us directly,” adds Svitlana Tkachuk.

Read more about the list of documents that must be submitted for temporary settlement, as well as a sample application, in the position below.

It should be noted that before the start of the full-scale invasion, about 7,000 war participants (ATO/OOS) lived in Lviv, now the number of our soldiers is a thousand times greater. The Lviv City Council is doing everything to help them as much as possible. These are material support and benefits, psychological and legal consultations, adaptation to civilian life – through excursions, art and other activities, support for veteran businesses and various social assistance programs.
