Excursions to the city composting station and waste processing plant, to the first rooftop solar power plant in Lviv, and to the villages that joined the Lviv community. And also an exhibition of purebred dogs, workshops, discussions, creation of a mural, workshops and dozens of events from the city’s reading rooms – all this is the City Workshop 2023.
This year, the City Workshop will take place from August 14 to 20 in different parts of the Lviv community. Its main topics will be the integration of internally displaced persons and the establishment of relations with the communities of the urban agglomeration. Workshop organizers have prepared special gifts for the most active participants.
The city workshop is an annual platform for the development of the involvement of residents in changes in the community together with the authorities and public activists. This is an open area for discussions, debates, decisions and proposals. The event has been held in Lviv since 2010.
This year, the City Workshop program will be full of excursions, workshops, lectures, open discussions, and creation of solid results – changes and improvement of public spaces in the city with one’s own hands together with residents. A separate feature of the festival will be the Library Marathon – a week of events for children and adults in the city’s reading rooms together with “CE – Education Centers”.
The organizers of the City Workshop 2023 – CU “Institute of the City” together with public organizations have prepared a list of the most interesting events.
On the first day of the Workshop, August 14 (Monday):
– creation of a mural on the wall of a shelter for IDPs in Veliki Hrybovychy. Free entrance.
– in library #4 (10 Antonenko-Davydovycha St.) a master class on making a doll-motanka will be held.
On the second day of the City Workshop, August 15 (Tuesday):
– a tour of the city composting plant and the construction of the future waste processing plant. To join the tour, register using the link.
– events for children and parents will take place in the Smart library (prof. Kovalika, 1) from 12:00 to 19:00.
The third day of the City Workshop, August 16 (Wednesday):
– a master class on digital skills from the Feminist Workshop will be held at Sensotek (Ulasa Samchuk St., 22), where representatives of the organization will teach how to use the simplest online services on a smartphone.
– open discussion “Digital solutions to improve the lives and opportunities of IDP women” in the shelter of the MoloDvizh Center (Skoryka St., 31),
– the events of the Library Marathon will take place in the “Multiplex” media library (Symonenko St., 10).
On the fourth day of the City Workshop, August 17 (Thursday):
– a tour of Zashkov, Zarudtsi and Zavadov, where they will tell you all about the communities that joined the Lviv MTG. Register via the link.
– events from the city’s reading rooms will take place in library No. 15 on the street Povitryana, 88.
– work on greening the space in Pidzamche together with the Urbanideas team “Pidzamche: green acupuncture/ Pidzamche: green acupuncture”. Anyone can join the initiative. The event will last from August 17 to 18 from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
On the fifth day of the Workshop, August 18 (Friday):
– creation of a new public space near the Tarilka food bank, located on the street Kulparkivska, 158. Anyone who wants to can contribute to change. The Tarilka team also prepared tours of the bank and a lecture on social business from the founder.
– training on the provision of pre-medical assistance on the street Kulparkivska, 158.
– open presentation of the research on social housing and housing for IDPs in Lviv and the “co-haty” project from Ivano-Frankivsk in the URBAN library (Ustiyanovycha St., 4)
– open discussions with residents about the expediency of uniting Lviv with neighboring communities from the agglomeration department of the Lviv City Council.
On the sixth day of the City Workshop, August 19 (Saturday):
– exhibition of purebred dogs “Just a Dog – not just a friend” in the Park of Culture. The owners will show the skills of the dogs they took from the shelter. Anyone can register to participate in the exhibition by following the link. Visitors will also be able to view photos of four-legged animals in shelters.
– events from the city’s libraries will take place in Sensoteka (U. Samchuk St., 22).
On the last day of the City Workshop, August 20 (Sunday):
– a free knitting workshop organized by VBRANI will take place in the “Nursery” space (58 Mushaka St.), where elderly people will exchange skills and knowledge with the guests of the event. The organizers invite residents and internally displaced persons to join.
– residents of the Zboysh district are invited to an open discussion about the development of the territory in the Spilno library (1 I. Mykolaychuk St.). Those who want to develop their knowledge of public participation will be able to join the UChange game.
