In the Sheptytsky district, a woman sustained burns to her hands while saving her home from a fire.
On December 23 at 00:10, a report was received by the Rescue Service about a fire in a single-story wooden residential building in the village of Staivka, Sheptytsky district. Firefighters from the local fire brigade of Belz city and the fire and rescue unit from Sheptytsky were dispatched to the scene.
It was found that an electric meter located on the facade of the house had caught fire. The flames spread through the wooden facade cladding, covering approximately 2 square meters.
In her attempt to save her home, the 61-year-old owner tried to extinguish the fire on her own, and neighbors came to her aid. Before the arrival of the firefighters, people managed to prevent further spread of the fire and extinguish it themselves. However, as a result of the incident, the woman sustained second-degree burns to her hands. Medics provided her with the necessary assistance, and she refused hospitalization.
Rescuers emphasize: every home should have a fire extinguisher to help put out small fires or contain the spread, but if there is danger – do not take risks, call 101.
