The Institute of Cell Biology of the NAS of Ukraine has a new head. The director of the institution is now Kostiantyn Dmytruk, who has worked at the Institute for 28 years and has risen from engineer to Doctor of Sciences. This was announced by the head of the Lviv Regional Military Administration, Maksym Kozytskyi.
The Institute of Cell Biology of the NAS of Ukraine is one of the country’s leading research centres. Among other things, it was here that the world’s first yeast-based antibiotic producer was created, work was carried out on an oral COVID-19 vaccine, international research projects are being implemented, and studies with practical applications in medicine, biotechnology and biomedicine are being conducted.
Maksym Kozytskyi also highlighted the contribution of the institution’s long-standing head, Academician Andrii Sybirnyi, who has led the Institute since its establishment in 2000. During this time, the Institute of Cell Biology has gained international recognition and has become an important research platform for Ukrainian and foreign scientists.
“The Institute of Cell Biology of the NAS of Ukraine is the pride of Lviv region and of the whole of Ukraine… It was under the leadership of Academician Andrii Sybirnyi that the Institute became one of Ukraine’s leading research centres and gained international recognition,” said Maksym Kozytskyi.
