University-based pharmaceutical production relaunched in Lviv on the basis of LNMU

At Danylo Halytsky Lviv National Medical University, an Educational, Scientific and Production Pharmaceutical Centre has been opened, which will combine the manufacture of medicines with the training of future pharmacists. This was reported by the head of the Lviv Regional Military Administration, Maksym Kozytskyi.

Production of solutions has already been launched in the refurbished premises of the centre. More than UAH 4.5 million from the regional budget was allocated for the modernisation of equipment, which made it possible to relaunch university-based pharmaceutical production.

According to the head of the region, Lviv oblast has strong scientific and educational potential for developing its own medicines: researchers who create new molecules and promising drugs work in the region, one of the strongest medical universities in Europe operates here, as well as Ukraine’s first university hospital.

“We have talented researchers who are working on new molecules and potential medicines. We have one of the strongest medical universities in Europe and Ukraine’s first university hospital. We have a full-fledged foundation for developing the production of high-quality medicines in Ukraine. We will do everything in our power to realise this potential,” emphasised Maksym Kozytskyi.

During his visit to LNMU, the head of the region also inspected the university’s Centre for Molecular Design. New compounds are synthesised here and cooperation is carried out with partners from 24 countries around the world.

The restoration of the production base and the development of scientific research at LNMU, in particular thanks to the new pharmaceutical centre and the Centre for Molecular Design, are creating conditions for combining education, science and practical pharmacy, as well as contributing to the development of domestic production of high-quality medicines.
