These days, the Lviv National Academic Men’s Choral Chapel “Dudaryk” is participating in the 150th Jubilee Choral Festival in the city of Riga (Latvia).
“Dudaryk” is the only foreign team invited to this event. During the event, the Ukrainian team performed the National Anthem of Ukraine together with 15,000 choristers.
“The festival attracts the attention of all Latvia and the world public for a whole week. And this year’s main expression (message) is a declaration of support for the Ukrainian people in the struggle for independence and for existence itself. In this way, Latvia speaks to the whole civilized world – Victory will be for Ukraine!” – shared the head and conductor of “Dudarika” Dmytro Katsal.
It is also worth noting that this festival is considered the largest choral event in the world and is an important event in the cultural and social life of Latvia. In addition, it is a masterpiece of the oral and intangible heritage of mankind. The All-Latvian Song and Dance Festival has been held since 1873, as a rule, every five years. The repertoire of the festival includes folk and classical choral songs performed a cappella, however, recently, modern popular songs have also been included in the repertoire.
