The Mayor of Lviv announced the intention to earn the title of ‘European Capital of Culture’.
In 2025, Lviv participated in the prestigious European Union competition, presenting a large-scale cultural and artistic program under the concept of ‘Responsibility to Be’. It was a bold vision of the role of culture in times of war, recovery, and European solidarity. Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyi noted: ‘We have taken the first step to be the cultural capital of Europe. We are still on this path and I am confident that we will complete this journey.’
