Lviv region to mark artist Liubomyr Medvid’s 85th anniversary with exhibitions, film and symphony

Throughout July, a series of art events has been planned in Lviv to mark the 85th anniversary of Liubomyr Medvid, one of the most renowned contemporary Ukrainian artists. The anniversary programme includes exhibitions, a film screening, a musical evening and the presentation of the artist’s new book.

From 5 to 30 July, the Lviv Art Palace will host a retrospective painting exhibition entitled «KROK. KROS. O-KLYK». The official opening of the exhibition is scheduled for 5 July at 16:00.

From 7 July to 7 August, the B. H. Voznytskyi Lviv National Art Gallery will present the exhibition «SHTRYKHOM I DUKHOM». The opening will take place on 7 July at 16:00.

On 10 July at 16:00, the Lviv National Opera will host a screening of Petro Radeiko’s documentary film «Liubomyr Medvid. Dialogue with Time». After the screening, the theatre’s symphony orchestra will perform Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. 2 «Resurrection» under the baton of conductor Ivan Cherednichenko, with Vasyl Vovkun as the event director.

Another event in the anniversary programme is scheduled for 16 July at the ZAG Gallery art space. At 16:00, Liubomyr Medvid’s new collection «33 Mini-Poems» will be presented there.

The organisers invite residents and guests of Lviv region to join the events and pay tribute to Liubomyr Medvid’s contribution to Ukrainian art.
