Lviv municipal library collects children’s drawings and letters for soldiers on the front line

The Lviv Municipal Library is holding a campaign to collect cards, drawings and amulets for soldiers to send to the defenders of Ukraine on the occasion of the Day of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Letters and crafts can be brought to any of the 49 libraries of the network until 15 November.

“We are collecting cards, drawings and amulets made by children for our soldiers. Bring your children’s works to the libraries by 15 November, and we will send them to the recipients by 6 December – the Day of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

In our libraries, we regularly hold events where children draw pictures, make cards or amulets for our military. In libraries where nets are woven, children’s works are put into the nets – they also protect them. Adults volunteer, and children heal with their sincere support. It’s another way to say that we are there for you, that we care,” the Lviv Municipal Library comments.

The collection of postcards will end on 15 November at 14:00 with the performance of Unbreakable by the Kolo Theatre Studio (the story is about children writing letters to the military during an air raid), after which you will be able to join in writing letters to the soldiers. We invite you to the event at the Central Children’s Library of Lviv (3 T. Okunevskoho St.).

To whom will all these drawings, cards and amulets be sent?

– The 125th separate territorial defence brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine;

– 80th separate airborne assault Galician brigade;

– 3rd separate assault brigade;

– United Assault Brigade of the National Police of Ukraine “Rage”;

– units with which volunteers from Lviv_Resistance work.

A list of libraries with addresses to which you can bring postcards, drawings, amulets and letters is available here.

We would also like to remind you that the municipal library collects books for the military undergoing rehabilitation at the UNBROKEN centre. Since February 2023, when the Lviv Municipal Library has been collecting and filling the bookshelf at the rehabilitation centre, more than 900 books have been donated.
