Lviv Customs transfers rare editions to Kyiv museums

Lviv Customs has transferred several rare printed editions to museum institutions in the capital, which experts have recognised as being of cultural and historical value.

The collections of the National Museum of the History of Ukraine in the Second World War have received a rare school textbook «Zoologia», published in 1940 in Kyiv and Lviv. The book, in Polish, was intended for pupils of the 6th–7th grades and is among the landmarks of educational book publishing from the first half of the 20th century.

The Maksym Rylsky Kyiv Literary and Memorial Museum will receive an ex-owner’s convolute — a collection of six separate printed editions bound together in a single cover. It includes books from the series «Римские и греческие классики: русские переводы», printed in 1897 in Kyiv.

Experts from the Volyn Regional Museum of Local History and the Vasyl Stefanyk Lviv National Scientific Library of Ukraine have confirmed that these editions are of considerable cultural and historical value.
