
The Lviv Regional Council supported the initiative to declare 2026 the Year of Borys Voznytsky.
During the meeting of the Permanent Commission on Culture, Information Policy, and Promotion of the Lviv Regional Council on May 14, issues related to the activities of museums, libraries, and theaters were discussed. Proposals were also agreed upon to honor the memory of outstanding Ukrainians.
The deputies reviewed planned events within the framework of declaring jubilee years in Lviv region and commemorating memorable dates in 2025. The commission submitted proposals regarding the composition of organizing committees for celebrating jubilee years in Lviv region in 2025.
Separately, they supported the initiative of the charitable foundation “In the Name of Borys Voznytsky” regarding the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the birth of the guardian of cultural monuments of the Ukrainian people, Hero of Ukraine, Borys Voznytsky. “The initiative to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Borys Voznytsky’s birth – an outstanding museologist and preserver of national heritage – was agreed upon. We support declaring 2026 as the Year of Borys Voznytsky. We also discussed the issue of additional funding for cultural institutions in Lviv region concerning accessibility. We are working to promote the figures of outstanding Ukrainians, and for Lviv region’s culture to receive proper support,” said the head of the commission, Sviatoslav Sheremeta.
