Lviv writer Victoria Amelina posthumously received the title of honorary citizen of Lyon, France.
This status in Lyon is annually awarded to human rights defenders and activists from various countries during the week of Human Rights Day. The decision was made by our friend, the Mayor of Lyon, Grégory Doucet. Symbolically, this happened right after the completion of the Festival of Lights — a special time for all Lyonnais, when the city speaks the language of light every year about memory, hope, and human dignity.
Importantly, Victoria’s family agreed to the conferral of this status. The world must remember those who sow light in the darkest times.
