Lviv Museums Raised Funds for the Restoration of Roman Shukhevych Museum

Three museums in Lviv held open days, encouraging visitors to financially support the reconstruction of the Roman Shukhevych museum destroyed by Russian forces. Over two days of the ‘Museum for the Museum’ campaign, 185,183 UAH were collected.

Participating in the event were: the Museum of Folk Architecture and Life named after Klimentiy Sheptytsky, the Solomiya Krushelnytska Memorial Museum, and the Museum of Totalitarian Regimes ‘Territory of Terror’. Oleksiy Taraban, head of the Department of Culture of the Lviv City Council, expressed gratitude to all participants and urged other cultural institutions to join this initiative.

It is worth remembering that on the night of January 1, 2024, a Russian shelling destroyed the Roman Shukhevych museum. A national architectural competition for its restoration has been announced in the city. The winning project envisions not only the reconstruction of the building but also landscaping the area.

The public organization ‘New Museum’ has opened an account to collect funds for the restoration:

  • NGO ‘NEW MUSEUM’
  • EDRPOU: 44482619
  • Bank: JSC CB ‘PRIVATBANK’
  • Account: UA233052990000026007031029658
  • MFO: 305299

When transferring funds, it is important to specify the purpose of the payment – a charitable contribution to the Roman Shukhevych Museum Restoration Project.
