Lviv Organ Hall invites you to the opening of the music summer

Young talents, new programs of solo organists, holiday concerts, interesting performers, “return to life” of lost works by Maksym Berezovsky and many other surprises will be presented to visitors by the Lviv Organ Hall earlier this summer.

The beginning of June is always a holiday for the Organ Hall, because at this time one of the biggest instruments of Ukraine celebrates its “Birthday”. This year the Lviv organ is 89 years old, so on June 4 and 5 you have the opportunity to join the celebration at a gala concert. The program includes works from different eras, as well as premieres written especially for this event by contemporary Ukrainian composers. Lviv musicians, led by organists, will play on the stage.

The day before, on June 3, the gallery of the Lviv Organ Hall will be replenished with an exhibition of a young artist Gleb Rachmaninoff called Ortus (translated from Latin “east” or “beginning”). The selection of paintings consists of 12 landscapes and several portraits created at different times. You can see the exhibition throughout June.

Famous organist-virtuoso from Austria Lucas Gasler will arrive in Lviv on June 10 and 11 to present his music at a time when Ukraine needs support the most. Lucas Gasler is a young star of the organ world, has given successful concerts in the United States, Europe and Asia, and is a winner of many international competitions. The musician will perform works by Bach, Mozart and Beethoven at solo concerts in the Lviv Organ Hall.

On June 18, two talents of Ukrainian classical music will unite. Pianist and composer Oleh Bezborodko will play the piano works of his colleague, composer Oleksandr Shchetynsky. Six different genres of piano works represent all periods of Szczecin’s work – from “Variations”, written in the late seventies, to “Epitaph to Gregory Skovoroda”, which the composer recently completed.

On June 22, for the first time in the organ hall, the Camille Saint-Saëns Symphony №3 performed by the Lviv National Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Ivan Ostapovych and the soloist-organist Svitlana Pozdnysheva will be performed in full. The virtuoso passages, the brilliant orchestral writing, the majestic sound of the organ are all about the symphony of the great composer Saint-Saens.

For more than 200 years, Maxim Berezovsky’s first symphonies were considered lost, and after their discovery, Russia tried to appropriate these works. However, the Ukrainian people defended the right to their music. On June 28, at 19:00, three symphonies by Maksym Berezovsky will be performed in the Lviv Organ Hall performed by the Symphony Orchestra of the Luhansk Regional Philharmonic, under the trampoline of Ivan Ostapovych. The program will be complemented by the work of Alexander Kozarenko “Irmologion” based on ancient church prayers of 1700.

On June 8 and 9 we are waiting for Stanislav Kalinin, soloist of the Kharkiv Regional Philharmonic, who will perform Bach’s greatest work for organ – organ mass Clavier-Übung III. Bach’s organ mass at the beginning of this season was performed at the Kharkiv organ Alexander Schuke, which was forced to remain silent today. In June, it will sound in Lviv as another symbol of the country’s unity during the war.
