The Lviv Theater joined the largest theater association in Europe

Lesya Ukrainka Lviv Theater joined the largest theater network in Europe. This happened during the ETC International Theater Conference, which was recently held in Lisbon.

European Theater Convention (ETC) is the largest theater association in Europe, founded in 1988. Today, it includes more than 50 theaters from 30 countries. ETC aims to promote modern European theaters as social platforms for the development of democracy, dialogue and mutual understanding.

Twice a year ETC organizes international theater conferences. The last of them — ETC International Theater Conference Lisbon — took place in Portugal on November 3-6. Among the invited guests was the Lesi Theater, which was represented by the director of the theater Olga Puzhakovska and the manager of international projects Viktoriya Shvidko. During the conference, they presented the Lesi Theater and its activities, after which the official procedure for the theater’s entry into the ETC network took place.

“Entering the ETC is an important step in the development of the Leci Theater. This network has dozens of theaters from thirty countries around the world. And now all of them are our new potential partners, together with whom we hope to establish the presence of Ukrainian theater on the international arena,” says Olga Puzhakovska.

The Lesi Theater became the fourth Ukrainian and the first Lviv theater to join the European Theater Conference network.

According to Olga Puzhakovska, representatives of European theaters are very interested in cooperation. This interest is due not only to the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, but also to the fact that the values of the Lesi Theater and the ETC network coincide.

We will remind you that recently, within the scope of establishing international relations and cultural diplomacy, the Lesi Theater toured the National Theater Festival in Romania, as well as festivals in France and Germany.
