On May 25, the Mykhailo Hrushevskyi State Memorial Museum in Lviv celebrates its 25th anniversary. On the occasion of the holiday, the institution held a number of solemn events, which were attended by representatives of the authorities and the public.

“At a time when the enemy is trying to destroy every Ukrainian cultural monument every day, we must do everything to ensure that museums work, are filled with visitors, are interesting and modern. Employees of the Mykhailo Hrushevsky Memorial Museum take care of a place extremely important for our history, preserve the memory of a great Ukrainian, a talented historian and politician. For 25 years, museum workers have done a tremendous job, we appreciate every personal contribution to the development, preservation and multiplication of our heritage. Thank you for your work,” emphasized Ivan Sobko, deputy head of Lviv OVA.

As part of the celebration, the presentation of the event “Six sketches for the biography of Mykhailo Hrushevskyi” took place – in 6 halls, laconic expositions were created, which tell about different periods of the life of the outstanding historian.

In addition, from now on the museum opened two jubilee exhibitions: “Painting” by Orest Skop, where 12 canvases with views of Kryvorivna, portraits of Mykhailo Hrushevskyi, Ivan Franko, etc. were presented and “Museum Yesterday and Today” – an exhibition of 10 works from the Museum’s fund collection about how the building of the Hrushevskyi villa changed over the years.

On the occasion of the holiday, Ivan Sobko presented the museum staff with a thank you from the head of LOVA for their high professionalism and significant contribution to the development of the museum business.

“The history of the museum begins in 1998. Then the museum became an independent unit – separated from the Frank House. We really wanted the great host, Mykhailo Hrushevskyi, to return to his home, so that the story of Hrushevskyi would become closer to every Ukrainian. They started with 500 exhibits, and now the museum fund includes more than 29,000 preserved items. We have various materials that represent Hrushevskyi’s heritage,” said the director of the museum, Maria Magun.

The leadership of the Department for Culture, Nationalities and Religions of the Lviv Oblast and deputies of the Lviv Regional Council also took part in the event.
