The Bandera Family Memorial Homestead Museum, which forms part of the Stryi Local History Museum “Verkhovyna”, has become a laureate of the Stepan Bandera Hero of Ukraine Regional Award for 2026 in the “Scientific and Educational Activity” category.
As stated in the decision of the competition jury of the Lviv Regional Council, the distinction was conferred for the museum’s consistent scholarly and educational work. Particular recognition was given to the publication of the annual collection “Bandera’s Trumpet” for 2023–2025, which brings together the works of historians and local studies researchers dedicated to Ukrainian state-building and the liberation movement.
The editorial team of the collection and the museum staff received the award for their contribution to the study and popularisation of the national liberation struggle and the preservation of historical memory.
The Stepan Bandera Hero of Ukraine Award was established by the Lviv Regional Council in 2012. It is presented annually for a significant contribution to the development of the Ukrainian State, the preservation of historical memory and the popularisation of the national liberation movement in three categories: political, civic and scientific and educational activity. The awards ceremony traditionally takes place on 1 January, Stepan Bandera’s birthday.
